The Norton Commander Link cable is not a straight through
cable.  The pins on one end of the cable may not directly connect to
the same numbered pins on the other end of the cable.  For example, on
the DB-9 serial cable,  pin 2 on one end of the cable connects to pin
3 on the other end of the cable.  The charts below describe the
cross-over of the wires (known as the mapping) of the different
combinations of cables. Use the first chart (DB-9) to (DB-9) to
build a cable with 9-pin serial connectors on both ends.  The
cross-over would be pin 2 on end A to pin 3 on end B,  pin 3 on end A
to pin 2 on end B, and so on.  If the pin is not listed on the chart,
then that pin is either not used or it just goes straight through.
For example, on the first chart pin 1 is not listed.  Therefore,  pin
1 on end A would connect to pin 1 on end B. The Serial Pinout Diagram
is for use with Norton Commander 3.0 and Norton Commander 4.0.  The
Parallel Pinout Diagram is only for use with Norton Commander 4.0.
